THREE SOLILOQUIES FROM THE GREATER GOOD (2006)
for Flute, English Horn, Clarinet, Bassoon, 2 Violins, Viola, Cello, and Doublebass
Commissioned by the Chamber Music Conference and Composers' Forum of the East
Duration: 5 Minutes
Three Soliloquies is an arrangement for nonet of a series of three ariettas from Act II Scene
II of my opera, The Greater Good. In the scene, one by one three rather well-off women
lament being far from the comforts of home: the first misses her cat, the second rails
against the snowy weather, and the third dreams of being back in her own room with her
things.
